很多留学生把定性研究写成定量报告,满篇都是“the study shows”或“the data proves”。

❌ The findings indicate that patients with chronic pain suffer from significant psychological distress. ✅ The findings suggest that psychological distress may be a prominent experience among patients with chronic pain. 注意看:“indicate”太硬,“suggest”留了余地;“suffer from”太绝对,“may be a prominent experience”承认了个体差异。

❌ The intervention was effective in reducing patient anxiety. ✅ The intervention appeared to reduce anxiety levels for most participants, though this effect was not consistent across all cases. 用“appeared to”和“most”把范围缩小,加上“though this effect was not consistent”承认例外。

❌ The results demonstrate that social isolation is the primary cause of depression in elderly patients. ✅ The results hint at a potential link between social isolation and depression, though causality remains difficult to establish in this qualitative context. “Primary cause”? “Hint at a potential link”是更安全的着陆点。

在健康研究里,uncertainty is not weakness; it's precision. 如果非要抄一句能救命的话: “Your data doesn’t prove the world; it just illuminates a corner of it.”

第一步:把你稿子里所有的“show/prove/indicate”全删了。 第二步:换成“suggest/indicate/imply”,但别滥用,每段最多用一次。 第三步:加限定词,“some participants”“in this sample”“tended to”。
