导师扫你的RA申请，30秒内决定扔还是留——你的第一句话就是判决书

RA cover letter 的生死在第一段就判完了——你是在pitch能力，还是在beg for a chance。90%的国际学生选错了姿态。

你投了二十封RA，没一封回复。你以为是邮箱问题、是简历不够好、是语言不够地道。不是。是教授打开你邮件的前两行，已经把你归到了需要被教"那一堆——然后直接关掉。国际学生写RA cover letter最大的问题不是英语，是姿态。你写成了求职信，教授要的是工作交接。"

看看最常见的开头长什么样：❌ "I am writing to express my strong interest in the research assistant position in your laboratory. I believe my background has prepared me well for this opportunity." 这段话没有任何信息量。"Strong interest"是空话，"my background has prepared me well"是空话。教授读完知道什么？知道你在申请。他知道你在申请。他需要知道的是：你为什么能今天就上手做这个项目。

✅ 换成这样："I noticed your lab is now running the second phase of the [具体项目] data pipeline. In my MA thesis I built a similar extraction protocol in Python — happy to share the repo if it's useful for your current workflow." 没有"interest"，没有"opportunity"。第一段直接证明你读过他们的paper、你做过同类工作、你现在就能帮忙。这才是教授打开邮件想看到的东西。

第二个致命错误：过度hedging。国际学生怕说错，所以每句话都加"perhaps""I would like to""if permitted"。看这个：❌ "I would be most grateful if you could consider my application, as I believe my skills may perhaps be relevant to your ongoing project." 这句话把你自己消解到了零。你在请求别人考虑你是否可能有价值。这不是一个能干活的人说的话。✅ "I have 40 hours/week available this semester and have already completed 2 years of [方法] work. I can pick up the coding tasks in your Phase 2 script within a week." 这就是一个同事在谈排期，不是一个学生在乞求。

第三个坑：把cover letter写成简历的散文版。教授已经有你的CV了，不需要你再复述一遍GPA和课程。❌ "During my undergraduate years at [大学], I achieved a GPA of 3.8 and took courses in statistics, programming, and research methods." 这段信息在CV里全有，在邮件里是噪音。✅ 只挑一个和这个实验室直接相关的经历展开："In [课程名] I wrote a codebook for the [数据集] and ran a replication of [某篇paper] in R — I found the robustness check in their Section 4 has a coding error I can flag if you'd like." 一个具体的、可验证的细节 > 十行GPA列表。

第四个坑：结尾又滑回卑微。❌ "Thank you so much for taking the time to consider my application. I look forward to the possibility of working with you." 你又在感谢、又在展望、又在"possibility"。一个能干活的助手结尾是这样的：✅ "I have attached my CV and the codebook mentioned above. Happy to discuss any of this by email or drop by your office hours — I'm available Thursday afternoon." 没有"thank you so much"，没有"look forward to"。是一个可执行的下一步。

整封信改完，丢 easydue 过一遍语气层——不是因为它能替你写，是因为你改完最容易残留的就是那种"学生味"：太整齐、太客气、每个句子长度都差不多。easydue 打散节奏、去掉那些礼貌填充词，大概省你四十分钟。剩下的时间拿去做一件更重要的事：读那个教授最近发的两篇paper，在邮件里引用一个具体数字或方法。你的RA申请回不回，不在语法，在你有没有证明你已经是他们团队的一部分。
